Prophet Everson Sees Russia Victorious in the World’s Grand Final Scrap.
PROVES IT BY THE BIBLE
Says Muscovites Will Ultimately Overwhelm Orientals When They Meet in Asia.
Professor T.C. Everson, who gives free lectures in a tent at 146th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, picked the troops and the battlefield for Armageddon last night in his war talk on “Which Will Win, Slav or Teuton?”
Professor Everson sees the Russian hosts victorious in Asia Minor, as he sense the Armageddon conflict. He gives Bible quotations to prove it, and makes out his situation in a way that surely would convince any one who thought and believed as he did.
“Russia is the coming world power,” Professor Everson declared. “It will be a long, bloody struggle for the Teuton is a foe worthy of any race’s steel, and will never give up until every resource has been exhausted, “ continued the speaker. “But history has taught us that the hordes that have poured out of their native forests and plains have overwhelmed by brute strength and countless numbers the civilized nations of the past.
“Russia is one of those colossal nations, mostly semi-civilized like the barbarians of ancient times that overcame Rome. She is just beginning to wake to her great resources in men and territory and is bound to have her inning as a star among the nations of the world.
“Napoleon said he would never consent to Russia controlling Constantinople, as that would destroy the equilibrium of Europe. This coveted goal is now nearly within her grasp. Once she has Constantinople and her vast granaries and other resources begin to flood the world through the Dardanelles, Constantinople will again become the center of a vast Empire.
Prophecy pictures Russia as a leader among nations in the last days of this world’s history, especially after she has driven Turk out of Europe and followed on into Asia to put the finishing touch to the Ottoman Empire.
“In the thirty-eight and thirty-ninth chapters of Ezekiel, Russia is actually mentioned by name hundreds of years before she existed, showing that this reference to her is really prophetic.
“It reads: ‘Son of man set thy face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the Prince of Rosh, Meshnech and Tubal and prophecy against him.’ Used in this connection the word Gog means ruler. He is the ruler of Rosh, Meshnech and Tubal.
“Rosh is the original for the present name Russia. Gesenius, the great Hebrew lexicographer says: ‘By Rosh is meant the tribe on the north of the Taurus so-called from the neighborhood of the Rha or Volga and in this name and tribe we have the first traces of the Russ or Russian nation.’
“Tubal gave his name to the large territory that today is known as Tobolsk, situated in the northwestern part of Asiatic Russia. Meshnech gave his name to the Moschi of which Herodotus speaks as settling near the Black Sea. There the MOschi became known as Muskovs and later, as Rawlinson says, ‘they were called Muscovites and built Moscow and gave the name Muscovy to Russia throughout the East.’
“In this prophecy, therefore, we have the name by which Russia is known in Europe, Russ or Russia, and by the name she is known in Asia, Muscovy. It is evident, therefore, that the prophecy has given ample proof for recognizing the power about which it is speaking. It represents Russia as a leader of European Turkey, but meets its fate in an endeavor to stem the tide against the rolling in of the mighty waves of the Oriental hordes as they endeavor to settle the racial question in this world.
“The great decimation of the white races makes it necessary that the white races shall have a champion and this champion they find in Russia, with her inexhaustible supply of men and natural resources. As she goes to conquer the oncoming Oriental hosts they will meet in Asia Minor, where the Bible places Armageddon, and that is the way in which the great battle of Armageddon is to be fought which prophecy places as the closing scene in this world’s history.”
